any1 know how to get the pmc baf addons if you have retail versions of arma???
from what i read u need arrowhead through steam
Rhodesy_77
28th April 2011, 10:16 AM
no dont get arrowhead through steam... go get a hard copy of it, or though sprocket. from there you can get BAF/PMC off of sprocket aswell.
Sprocket is a Direct to Drive website, cheap prices and it all goes to BI the Devs.

shady mate ive helped that many people who have had problems ith the steam version + mods + patches its not even funny any more. there is ZERO reason to get it off steam, use sprocket, just as cheap and is still downloadable. so dont tell me nothing is wrong with the steam version...

In my experience and the experience of those I've encountered.
There's nothing wrong with the steam version.

Never had an issue with steam except that it insists on downloading the entire game for every patch

StArmA [Steam Version of ArmA] doesn't have anything wrong with it on the technical side, however it is a pain to set it up for mod use, and like the 1.59 patch you have to wait a long time for the updates to be released.
It's playable and you can use mods, but it is an inconvenience.

I don't see how its any worse for mods? Only problem I have is the 1.59 patch coming out later.

so to get into ARMA II and play with the community, what do you need to buy/download to make it all happen?

Most of us just have Arma 2: Combined Operations which is ArmA 2 and the operation arrowhead expansion. BAF and PMC are purely optional mini expansions.
Sprocket is just a digital download service, once you have the game off them it pretty much functions like a full hard copy. No steam complications.

Just remember if you already have Operation Arrowhead installed and want to upgrade it to Combined ops by getting ARMA 2, you will need to uninstall OA first then install ARMA 2, Run ARMA 2, then install OA and the latest OA patch and DLCs.
If you don't do it in that order it most likely wont turn into Combined Ops.

Well I received my email from sprocket, but their downloader's far too slow, so I'm torrenting the game much faster and will just use my serial once it's done. I still feel dirty, despite buying the game :P

Combined Ops is really just two separate products bundled together to save $$$. You don't get a combined installer, or a single license key. If you accidentally install them in separate folder/drive they will act as stand-alone games and not technically be 'combined'.
So if you have Combined Ops, or purchased ArmA2 and Operation Arrowhead separately, it's all the same.
The A2 and OA install files on AEF FTP will work regardless of what version you have.
Even if you bought on Steam (I've heard from other players) you can still download and install the retail/Sprocket versions using the license you got via Steam.
OA, PMC, BAF and Combined Ops are currently 50% off on SprocketIDEA.
A2 is 70% off.
Anniversy Edition (EVERYTHING) is 15% off.
Was a 3 day sale, I think it ends today, so 'soon' depending on time-zone.
