I've been promising to try out the Pr mod for arma for months and havent got off my backside but i think its time.
so to help me out i would like people to point me in the right direction of files, mods, when and where people play etc.
now i have the steam version and im hoping there are no issues but if there are please let me know.
would be good to get a few locals on in a squad for a fun night.

Hey hey - hoping to be online this Friday night for a session. Gruanch I think is up for it too, and everyone else is welcome to the party.
Local mirror for the files are here:
http://mirror.aef-hq.com.au/~arma/Mods/PR/
If we get enough players chiming into this thread, we can just stack the AEF/BigD server. Otherwise, we'll have to play it by ear.
If you've never tried ARMA or ARMA PR before, don't hesitate to join in - I think its a great opportunity for all the new guys to get some assistance from the older hands. :)
EDIT: I know one of the obvious questions will be - which TS server? Well, TBH, stick with the BigD server if that's where you feel comfortable. I'll probably have to whore it between AusArma, AEF and BigD TS's - but in game we can chat anyway.

cheers Wolffy - good to see you back
is there any tricks to getting this to work?
how about everyone interested keep an eye on the bigD TS Server from around 8:00 - 8:30 AEST onwards and we can see where we end up.

well just finished rebuilding my PC and in the process of reinstalling A2 now. So similar advise as to Darth would be great.
will have to get Vent, TS & Mumble all organsorted as well as a mic too.
would love to team up for some decent A2 play as previous experience has been relegated to SP and co-op with my mate in a dodgy mission which resulted in us both bombing out to BF2 vanilla for some relief.

I think if we can get some ARMA or ARMA PR veterans in each squad, we'll be laughing.
Just download the EXE and run it. No gotcha's I can think of. Double check all your game settings, as it sometimes resets everything. Get on TS and we can man-handle you to another channel and try sort you out (don't forget, we want to play too).

With the improvements to ARMA's net code, playing on international servers is not only achievable now, but also enjoyable.
The biggest draw card of ARMA: PR is the sheer numbers you can get in a match, allowing you to run full infantry sections, armour bricks and air support. Without the numbers, it is not possible to pull off the same combined arms operations.
I highly recommend that everyone squad up and jump on one of the international servers that's populated. Run as a full infantry section, or two, or three, but do it with everyone else. Don't start a new server (or join an empty one) to further dilute the ARMA: PR population.
The biggest problem with ARMA (in general) in Australia is that there's too few people spread over too many servers. Hopefully this won't happen with ARMA: PR!

Yup every day I log onto 6updater and cruise servers there's always 10+ Aussie servers that have 1 or 2 players scattered across them.
Unless you hook up with the AEF:CTB boys or play CTI on the node servers its hard to get a decent high numbers game going.

For this as a starter night, we'll gauge if the new players want to stay local or go into the big bad International server. Maybe we can do both over the course of the night.
Yes, playing on 50 v 50 game is pretty awesome and with 250ms ping, I have not seen any lag - its pretty incredible.

I've been playing CTI on the node servers just about everyday for the past month, no issue with numbers there & sometimes I struggle to get a spot before it's full.
Don't see too many BigD'ers out there tho

What modes do you play then? Apart from, domination & the life mods there aren't too many other modes to play.

If you're planning to jump on Friday night, can you please try connecting first tonight and don't leave it to the last minute. Gives us some time to sort you out if there are issues.
If you've got problens, post here and hopefully someone will be around to jump on TS and help you out.

Point the updater in the right direction in regards to the root directory/folders for ArmAII and ArmAII:OA.
When you have done that go to the server browser function of the updater
and for example if you see 8/20 people in the AEF server playing Patrol Ops missions and you want to join you:
picture tells a thousand words lol

wow that look nothing like the 6 updater i have got.
there must have been a few versions since i used it last because mine is a web interface with dos looking windows.
i'll go searching for a new one.
I loaded the exe file and ran the game. Apart from some conflicts with a few keys everyting seems to work. Even jumped on the BigD sever for a few minutes to test some of the functions.
