argh. thanks for your help on the ram guys but it turns out the stick i got is registered memory, so it doesnt work on my motherboard. :( knew it was too good to be tru for the price. spose ill have to keep looking.

lol i think this post would make more sense if it was with the other posts that were removed from the original thread. Since the issue is resolved now anyway it might as well be deleted, as it's a very odd thread to read at the mo :)

had a bit of a brain twitch and press delete and not move. Seems theres no undo button for the admin.:cry:

hehe, fair enough. for anyone who cares i ended up buying a new 1gig stick of ram for $150. brand Hynix. so i now have 2 gigs of ram but its not in dual channel

EDIT: well turns out 2 of my ram slots are broken so its only 1.5 gigs for me :(. ya cant win

Just buy another stick of hynix and sell your other 2 of 512mb

lol true, didnt really think about that :roll: . but who could i sell them to? i spose i could advertise in the Quokka or sumthing. unless you can do trade-ins with a store to get a discount price. i think i might give that a shot.

If your a member of overclockers.com.au forums they have a buy+sell forum section. RAM gets snapped up pretty quickly.

Shop & Swap
When you have been a member for more than 90 days, you will see 5 "Shop & Swap" forums and be able to buy and sell on OCAU. Only current sponsors and advertisers can sell new items. Posts over 60 days old are deleted from these forums.

:cry: i have to wait 90 days.... but i have emailed the guy that sold me the ram to see if he'll do a trade in.
