View Full Version : What's the approach to being kicked from a squad?

Hi there from TOG|RedFly

I have been playing the BigD PR servers for a few weeks now. It's been a great server. I have seen only good behaviour on the servers.

I am generally a reasonable player. After a few good rounds tonight ranking the top 3, I had a bad round and was then kicked from the squad by [TEA]Dab who was squad leader.

What's the story with squad kicking? I reckon it isn't much different to team killing.

I was pretty shocked that [TEA] would be kicking people to squad up themselves. That's not very TIDY.

P.S. You guys in BigD are doing a great thing with PR.

ranking the top 3

We don't give a toss about your score. Learn that first and foremost.

What people care about in PR is TEAM WORK and following orders. Squad Leaders will have a set plan in mind and if you don't follow their orders, they have every right to kick you out of their squad.

If I was in a full squad, was leading the squad and one of my friends joined the server, I'd ask someone to volunteer to leave. If noone volunteered, I'd nominate the least helpful person in the squad.

Bottom line is: I play this game to have fun. I have fun with my mates, plus I trust them and know they'll follow orders.

Stab play nice!

They could had had another player they wanted to let in the squad. I wouldn't make too much out of it. Some leaders use the kick as a fall in line type of thing too. It's not an "I hate you go to hell" thing when your kicked, so don't feel bad. It's just like a "drop and give me 10 soldier" thing. There are very few ways to get people to listen in BF2 and getting kicked from a squad is usually quite effective, especially in a team based game. But I doubt it was anything more then they wanted another TEA player in their squad. Just join another with some [bD]/[bD]c guys and keep on going.

Have fun and see you out there.

I can't speak for [TEA]Dab, but when I kick someone from a squad it's 99% of the time because another N!SF clanmate wants to join it. From there, as already said, I go down the list and find either the least helpful person or the person I've never seen before and remove them from the squad.

TOG| guys are generally awesome though, so I try not to kick them.

The others have pretty muched summed it up but my own personal experience with the [TEA] players there very vanilla and I wouldn't expect anything else but vanilla behaviour from them. Don't take it personally I really suspect that it was most likely a 'theres my clan mate' kick more than any thing else.

There were alot of TEA guys on last night, so I think you will find it was a simple matter of kicking you to invite a clan member in.
Please don't take offence. This isnt something thats moderated.

Usually if you are not doing something the squad leader likes, you will be told as much.

Just join up with another squad and continue kickin ass and takin names :D

While its pretty ordinary behaviour I can see why some people do it. I don't really condone it unless they are being a general idiot and not contributing.

I'd like to think(hope) that none of the more seasoned members of the BigD community would be kicking anyone from their squads just because one of their clan mates has come online. Especially if the player doesn't have a great score, there's probably a reason for that - they are new to the game and need a bit of coaching/guidance, which you as a regular can offer them.

What do you think they are going to do when they get kicked from a squad? Go off and do their own thing. Which is what alot of you guys have been complaining about lately.

Keep that in mind next time you want to play with a clan mate, who you can play with anytime.

Just to clarify, my kicking someone from a squad usually occurs before the match has actually begun, so score is not an issue. The reason I need to at all is because the squad just fills up too damn fast and sometimes they just miss that join button.

If the squad is filling up that fast there's a reason for it. Those players know you are a good SL and want to be in your squad, I know I always like being in your squad when you're around. You're a good SL and can lead by example for new players, if you're kicking those players you've never seen before then it can only be bad for the game in the long run.

Edit: I'm not saying this should always be done, you need to play with your clan mates regularly. We all love to play with people we know as it makes the game a lot more enjoyable. Just keep it in mind next time you go to kick a newbie and you've got 5 other regulars who know the game inside out and can help out in other squads.

Have calmed down now. Puts dummy back in.

Sorry about the score comment - I agree it's not about the score. I was just trying to say I was having a bad round, and kept dying stupidly.

I think PR is all about squad play, I never play lone wolf. Thanks for the feedback.

Wasn't in relation to you mate, was directed at the SL's who base their decisions to kick people on their scores :)

Those players know you are a good SL and want to be in your squad

Um ... no. They're generally so quick to join a squad because they want to get access to (And waste) special kits, which I'm sick and tired of. It's very rare that I can create a squad, or join a squad and be guarenteed team work, there's always 3-4 people out of the 6 person squad who go off and do their own thing.

If a squad leader wants to kick someone because they want to get a GUARENTEED team player in, or because they want to play with one of their mates, more power to them. Do it, IMO.

If they request kits then go off and do their own thing and don't follow your orders then by all means kick them from the squad. But you never know what they are going to do until they do it. Just assuming that is what they are going to do and kicking them because you think they will do that is completely wrong and not a level headed thing to do.

If you want to kick people from your squad by all means do it, at the end of the day its your squad I we have no say how you operate it. Just don't start posting threads on this forum crying about "the state of play", "newbies" and anything relating to what you have contributed to creating within the community.

You can only help and guide people who WANT to be helped. The last 4 rounds I've played, I've offered to give a bsic run down on how the game works and what's expected of people when they play PR compared to BF2.

What have I been met with? Silence, then people running off solo. As I said above, "moulding" the community into the awesome group of players we used to have isn't possible unless the entire community wants that and with the influx of new players with varied personalities, it's not possible.

I only hope that things do get better.

I'll give people a chance, but that's all I'll give them. One chance. Screw it up and they're out of the squad.

Well to be quiet contrary, I led a few brand spanking newbies last night, and they were quiet good at listening.
1 man wrecking crew was also great, taking the time to help the new guys as well.
Even though we had our backsides handed to us due to a team fairly full of newer players, we did all have fun none the less (may the next infidel who shoots at my mosque be infested in their armpits with the fleas of a thousand unwashed camels!!).

Just a counterpoint to offset some of the newbies who dont want to listen. I do know there are people who wont listen which can make things tough, but there are at least as many (probably a lot more) that are willing to listen and want to be helped.
