You guys seen this site?
Zazz.com.au (http://www.zazz.com.au/index.php)
Ive never actually brought anything off the site (always the right thing at the wrong time) but Ive been subscribed for months and there is some great gear coming through at cheap prices. Having said that there is alot of random junk too!!
Basically they list one item each day, and offer it up for sale at a reduced price. As soon as its sold out its all over.
Not really essentials but great bargains.

Thanks for the link.
Pricing looks OK, but not really a bargain (on this thingy at least).

Wow 20" widescreen for cheap on zazz today. For that price I should buy one and use two monitors.

Yeah I am very tempted.
Im still using a crappy IBM 15" POS
Wokeye
8th August 2007, 08:50 AM
Good speed, good size, good contrast ratio, decent dead pixel warranty, DVI ..possibly shaky build quality (backlighting etc) but for that price for a gaming monitor, who cares.
edit: loosk like its a discontinued line, hence the crazy price

You should get it Jim, going from a 15" to a 20" will blow your mind :D
I remember how blown away I was when I went from a 17" to just a 19"
"WOW.....WICKED.....O H THAT'S AWESOME" :D :D :D
daveee
8th August 2007, 09:07 AM
You can force its resolution so you can play in "widescreen" (stretched image).
But yeh would be a huge improvement over 15"
Hell I could probably steal you a 17" LCD from work...give me a few weeks :P
Jim
8th August 2007, 09:27 AM
LOLS dont get yourself in trouble Daveee!!
The ministry of finance would have my you know whats in a vice if I spent that kind of money at the moment.

Nah only my manager has a 20", not sure what he needs it for but theres no way I can sneak it out.
Trying to think of what sort of inconspicuous large sized bag I can take to work to sneak one out in without everyone knowing it was me that actually took it after they review security footage.

How many cameras are there?
Someone who's not me once managed to bypass a similar problem by having a workmate 'dust' the camera at a convenient time.
Sure, it was as suss as Alexander Downer's marriage, but they couldn't prove anything :D
daveee
8th August 2007, 07:46 PM
There is a camera watching every entry into each floor from the elevator area. As well as a camera watching each elevator entrance/exit.
Then a camera on each carpark level outside the elevators. Then a camera on every level of the outside carparks.
It wouldn't be hard if I could disassemble the LCD's, ie take the stand off them.
I would have to take a bag to work every day for a week and then several weeks after though. All of a sudden rocking up with a bag isn't going to look suspicious.

I think you've found your solution. That's the kind of ingenuity that seperates us from the apes.
Besides, there's nothing more Australian than flogging company equipment. As is said in the Navy 'If you're not shopping Grey-Mart, you're paying too much'
<Edit> I am joking of course I would never condone such actions, nor would I even consider undertaking them myself. 8)

Yeh, my dad has a 20" CRT he bought on his cost centre credit card, but because it wasn't through the IT Dept he couldn't actually keep it at work plugged in and use it for longer than a week.
Poor bastard had to bring it home and use it there. Score.

Was looking at an ex demo BenQ 22 inch widescreen that was being sold at auction today and was already almost at the same price, so I thought stuff it, this one is brand new.
I know shes not exactly the highest quality but it will beat the crap out of my standard 15inch ibm POS that ive been using for years.
Happy Camper!! :victory:

Me, I'm in a bind... It's either a nVidia 9800GTX whenever they come out, or 2 22in monitors (Can't live without dual monitors). My current 7600GT probably can't run games at the 22in res, so it's probably a 9800... Annoying, since those 22in monitors look damn nice and I want.

Given that 2 22" chimais are around $700 and a 8900 will be around $1100 on release why not get the 2 22" and a 8800gts 320 ?
