This map is outstanding and really lets people who play well
exhibit their skill. The destructible buildings are great.
It really shows up who can play and who can't.
A great squad (in both teams) is a wonderful thing.
Those who can't really play, or haven't learn well
enough about how to position themselves in this battlefield -
well, they make great target practise.
Note to new players - you *don't* have to shoot everything
you see. Sometimes it is enough just to spot it for your
squad/team. A good k/d ratio feels great but remember
that it's not how you play the game but whether or not
you (and your team) win or lose that really counts IRL and in PR.
8)
edit - I kicked a player from the server last night for joining my squad,
requesting a sniper/marksman kit and then not listening to orders.
Play for the team, people, even if you want to lone-wolf it. Don't request kits
to use alone like this moron as the kit is a complementary aid for your
squad/team. The standard kits are good enough for lone-wolfing and, quite
frankly, if you don't know how to use a limited kit in terms of squad
tactics, you probably can't use it well alone anyway.

I totally agree, and remember if you are the Brits:
1. Pick up the kits of any insurgents you kill (you don't have to keep them though) as this gives you 2 intel points to help you locate more ammo dumps quicker.
2. When you find an ammo dump get in blow it then get out. I have seen so many squads in huge fire fights in the middle of nowhere for no reason this is a waste of time and tickets both of which the Brits don't have much to start with.
Lastly use the transport heli to get around the map quickly and avoid unnecessary fighting and when flying keep an eye out as you may be able to spot ammo dumps from the air.

Cheers for the hints, good squading with ya the other night.

I've noticed player thinking about strat's to much and not acting enough.
and to often ppl are relaxed while capping flags..
I snuck up on a flag bymyself about 6 times on one map and my squad just keept running straight at it. lol of course you'll get killed there looking that way.

I have a question about KILLING civilians. I am aware that there is no penalty for running over them in a vehicle or shooting them while they are on a ladder. But can you shoot them while they are in deep water. i.e. water that stops them from being able to access their inventory?

nope, cause they still count as an infantry. Not a vehicle according to bf2.

Civilians are only not civilians when there driving vehicles, using ladders or ropes all other times there civies. Pretty sure you can kill them with explosives either when there considered infantry just knife or run em over to be safe.

That's kinda harsh, kicking him from your squad should have been enough.
As for Al Basrah, I love it.
I seriously considered turning up sex from my GF to play it the other night. Wish I had, in hindsight.

I disagree Bishos!
These are exactly the type of players that the community is complaining about and indeed so am I.
Kicking him from the squad wouldn't do anything, he would have his sniper kit and off he would go lone wolfing,
which if he got used to that tactic every time he played he would just join a squad so he could get the sniper/marksman kit,
he would probably just leave the squad so he didn't have to listen to people giving him orders and there you go,
Another player detracting from the other players gaming experience and in fact giving that team/squad a disadvantage.
If anybody thinks that it's a good tactic to grab a sniper/marksman kit, hide somewhere and pick off the enemy....
well they are fooling themselves.
And I don't give a damn about "certain" players that do exactly that and get a good K/D ratio,
K/D ratio means diddley squat and for those who think it does....PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE STOP PLAYING PR!!!!
There are plenty of sniper kits in BF2, SERIOUSLY play BF2 and grab one of them no one gives a rat's because there are plenty of them around.
PR is different there aren't many kits available and when it comes time to actually NEEDING one to get your squad out of a situation,
there's old numb nuts new player leading a squad with the sniper kit,
he's got 2 kills and is hiding somewhere trying to stay alive, get a good K/D and glorify himself
"Hey look at me I'm the 1337ZOR SN1P3R OH YEAH!!! I just won the whole round look at my score"
All of the limited kits are used best when used within a squad so your squad can heal you, give you ammo, spot enemies and cover your back,
Like Sandy said "they are a complimentry aid for your squad/team"
IMO All players should be discouraging this type of kit whoring at all costs as it is detracting from OUR game!!!
Remember??? Our teamwork orientated game???
And especially MY GAME!!! :P :P :P :P
Sorry to hijack thread but I had a bee in my bonnet.........GONE NOW!................ .or has it? Muhahahahha!
Remember kids play as a team........for the team

Yeah the other night we suddenly had like three snipers in our squad without any warning. Needless to say we couldn't even cap a homie, let alone a flag.
If you wanna host your own lone-wolf snipeyboy gameshow, jump onto a vBF2 server FFS.

I disagree, that players selfish actions took away a sniper kit from the entire team. PR in 0.6 is so heavily reliant on teamwork I think it should be enforced. I've played on American servers where you get kicked after a few minutes if you don't join or form a squad.
Again .6 is heavily reliant on teamwork and I definately think it should be enforced especially as the server is now full quite often and people are actually waiting for DC's to get in as I've done a bunch of times for the first time playing in Australia. (run on sentence!) A few kicks will either force them to smarten up or they will discontinue to play. Either way it's a win win situation. I also think joining a squad just to request a kit them leave should be an auto kick. You know very well that he's just going to climb to some remote and useless area of them map and camp it taking away a limited asset from 29 other people.
As for the sex part, I've never passed it up but I have passed up oportunities where I could have got some but chose to keep drinking my beer and play with all my internet buddies like a true geek. Mind you I don't do that too often or eventually I'll come home to a smashed PC and an irate woman.
My girlfriend lets me do what I want but as we all know, you can only push so far before you wonder if you shouldn't sleep around them.

How about having sex while playing PR, now we're talking. Probably only suitable while on defense though and you better make sure you are not transmitting on VOIP.

I used to have TS on voice activation in my clan in the UK. Let's just say it's potentially embarassing and that people are perverts.

If you do I promise it will be posted all over the clan website.
ARSE Clan is a big clan too, having 25 ppl give you **** for over TS is a setup for a very red face. It's a good thing it's the internet!
