Hey guys, as of 2 days ago my DVD drive decided not to read anything I put into it. It was having difficulty reading burnt DVDs for the past few weeks but retail ones were still fine, and now it just spins the DVD/CD around like crazy and does nothing. Anyone have any ideas on what could have gone wrong and is it fixable? I think it is still under warranty so I might have to just take it back and whinge/get a new one. Problem is I can't play PR until I get it fixed. :(

take it back and get a new one - best solution as you also get a new warranty.

I had this happen to an old CD burner - something to do with the laser getting out of wack - told to chuck it in the bin and move on.

You can get a mini image of the bf2 dvd, mount it on a virtual drive, and it will let you play...

ooooh how?

Get a program like nero or Daemon Tools.

I use Daemon tools, easy to use. just google it.

I'm sure there are heaps of others too.

I use Alcohol, just cos it's easier to use, I find. Although I've got daemon running too.
Throw A-Ray scanner, AnyDVD and Yasu in the mix and I"m ready for any dvd - game, movie or otherwise :D

Are you not allowed to put an image of your own disk you purchased in your own PC? It makes sense to do it as I've had games break before and it's annoying.

Yes, what you are talking about is perfectly legal. However these topics always seem to go downhill from there into the illegal activities... We have stated what programs he needs and websites he needs to visit, any further help should be kept to PM's, because that's when it gets into the illegal stuff which we don't discuss here.

Speaking of illegal I have a kilo of crack, PM if interested..

It will give you a gaming edge with the added bonus of not having to eat or sleep!

Cap - as Darth said, Id be taking it back, as annoying as that is.
Sounds like the laser may have broken its tracks or something has come loose.

Anyways, I'm locking this thread as the original question has been answered as best we can, and while I'm all for off topic banter, this one's getting way too far off track.
