Ok people what are your opinions should the stats be reset?
Or I think last time around new stats started with the old stats page left alive.

I don't think the stats should be reset... why? Because they don't mean a damn. The only thing I find useful with them is who has no life and plays PR way too much, based on their rank, and who are the new players who need to be taught how to play the game. That, and it's too much effort to do especially when they don't mean that much in a PR battlefield.

With all the stats errors I've been seeing at the end of most battles recently we have yet more reason not to care about it. At the end of Daqang last night I believe I was seeing the previous round's stats for Phoenix while some times there are no stats shown at all.

I think this thread could be locked and closed as no one really cares about stats

Wokeye

Stats would be much the same for 0.613 as for 0.6, when they were last reset, yeah?

I have seen what Rogue mentioned a few times (no stat records after the round), mainly on rebel and insurgent maps.

Sometimes by playing PR 'properly' your stats will be crap, like if you are on point (high deaths), on defence (low kills), or as a cautious SL (low deaths/kills/teamwork) but you will be a primary contributor as to why the round was won. Stats wont always tell you that.

I am going to go against all of you and say I care about the stats. I care about my own personal stats and like to see how I stack up against my peers. I play a competitive game because that's the kind of person I am. I like to see what my K/D ratio is, it makes me remember to change my play style if I am doing poorly. If my accuracy is low and my K/D ratio is low it means I need to place my shots better and maybe take more care before running out in the open.

I also like to know that I'm better than some of my competition with mith my stats being a comparison. As you know I don't come in here and brag or be a jerk about it. It's not about my e-penis or anything like that at all. I keep it to myself and use it as an indication for my effective play on the battlefield. Furthermore, if you guys really didn't care about stats you would not be in here posting or whining about them.

I think what we really hate are the stat whores who wreck the game for all of us by being a padding jerkoff. You know, the ones who always have the sniper kit up in the hills all by themselves serving no purpose other than getting a 35 to 1 K/D ratio in a round all while doing nothing but draining a few tickets but not really doing anything to support the effort.

Stats have always been in games, when I played Counter Strike 7 or 8 years ago we had a similar system where we had to check a website for server stats. I liked it that way then too. My other thoughts on why some people hate stats is that they suck.

I say leave the stats as they are. (I'm in the top 100!! That's my real reason)

The stats will never be taken away. GSA have it as part of their servers and its there to stay. Though the idea of the thread was to get them reset.

It's not a bad idea, I don't see the merit in it being a good idea either though.

We could reset them with every new version of the game (would at least get rid of the people who no longer play at least anyway).

At the end of the day, the decision lies with Darth and Kinsman really.

Yeah reset them every version. They are meaningless across different versions anyway.

I know a lot of people think stats only bring point hogs to the game, but most people who play dont care about winning every game. Hell I've spent a whole game creeping around just to kill a few tanks not many points but its fun.

People do how ever like to know they are rewarded for effort ie; badges and rank, thats why they like stats.

I know theyre not accurate but somethings better than nothing.

Then why do you want them reset?

GruAncH
26th September 2007, 12:06 PM
The stats for 0.5 stopped and new stats for 0.6 were adopted when it came out, and with the new patch comes a new scoring system.

So why not have a new stats page, it would reflect new scoring system

Yeah I think a reset would be a good thing. As of 0.61 you can get points a lot easier eg. I personally got 1700 points as an SL in one round the other night. Never been able to get anywhere near that before.

The stats system is a bit retarded with things like crewman being classed as engineer which is very misleading and other short comings of the conversion from BF2 stat tracking to PR.

However the key stats like kill/death ratios, accuracy, preferred kits, time spent as SL, Cmdr, or SM, etc, really help you to get an idea of not only how good a player is, but more what kind of player they are. When looking at potential clan members, looking them up on the stats page is an essential part of the process.

Reset please - the stats are a useful tool for gauging your own performance in some areas such as accuracy etc and by resetting them you wipe out any lingering interest in them from the vanilla players.

Seems like a reset works in both camps favours - it helps those who use them as a continuous improvement tool and it discourages the stat whores (not that there is much point to that in PR)

Captain_Wolf

I never thought of that but resetting the stats would actually really deter the stat whores and padders out there when they realize that all their hard work has been for nothing and they have no way to prove the size of their E-penis and that is always a good thing.

+1 Bammo

Even tho im at the top of the leaderboard.....I will agree to having the stats reset.

I love the stats and personally think those that think they are BS are just those that dont get good scores cause they are special item whores.

Or they dont get to play much....

I play maybe 6hrs during week days and maybe 10hrs on weekends i dont think thats a sign of no life?

All these players who think the leaders have no life are full of crapola, the truth is they just spend there time playing multiple games like WoW and Counterstrike etc... whereas PR is the ONLY game i currently play.

Stats are fun, and a challenge......If you play the game PROPERLY:)

hahahahaah (ok quick lock the thread.....lock it......i said LOCK IT!!!!)

No thats not what he's saying, he's anticipating people saying he has no life, being that he has said he spends about 16hours a week playing PR.
He did not say people who care about stats should be dead :not_i:

I died long and hard to get my KDR so messed up and now you want to reset it?!? :P

Agree with Bammo's post,

"Reset please - the stats are a useful tool for gauging your own performance in some areas such as accuracy etc and by resetting them you wipe out any lingering interest in them from the vanilla players.

Seems like a reset works in both camps favours - it helps those who use them as a continuous improvement tool and it discourages the stat whores (not that there is much point to that in PR)"

Although of late there looks to me like the number of players whoring for points is increasing in the PUB games. A reset hopefully might send the message that stats is not what PR is about.

Play for your team or go and play Vanilla!

Ok time to jump in and say something.

Ive let this post run for a while knowing that ultimately the stat system is not ours to play with, change etc.

Whilst i personally dont care for stats i understand others use them for various reasons and like them.

I will ask the powers that be in regards to re-setting the stats and see if they are willing to do it.

Dont forget we are asking them to do something for us so take the time and visit their forums http://www.gamingsa.com (http://www.gamingsa.com/)

This spreads the love - we help them by actively participating in their forums and we get little things like this done

will keep you posted in regards to whether they are willing to re-set them or not.

link needs a fix there darth.

Jim: fixed ;)
Lucid: I swear you beat me to it by half a second. . .
Solo dont use url tags if it is the main site. Forum software parses the links anyway unless you have it disabled from default value ;)

I actually agree with the poster who said a reset every three months. It keeps them fresh and long enough to see you go up the leaderboard but not long enough for the whores.

Me too, also it gives the equivalant of a running tally, letting you judge accuratly how well you are playing as yuou can see what others have done in approximatly the same period of time

OK to finish this thread off.

I have spoken to GSA admins and its not as easy as it sounds.

The person in charge of the stats (Kinsman) does not have access to the backend and therefore cannot peform an easy clean of the stats database.

Currently it would involve him manually deleting the 2000 odd players out of the system, which not only would take a long time but be a boring thankless job.

So the answer to the question is NO the stats will not be reset.
We will look at it again in the future when

We have more time and other things are not impacting our free time.
Things change over at GSA in regards to access to databases (if ever)If you really want the stats reset then show your support for GSA
Go visit their site http://gamingsa.com (http://gamingsa.com/) and participate in their forums.
This shows them some love and that love may be returned.
