Hey guys, merry christmas, recently got my computer back from cleanup and got a new setup for it. Tell me how you think it will run PR:
rough specs:
2 gigs DD2 RAM.
Sparkle Nvidia 8800GT 512mb gfx card.
3.2ghz single core processor (I've had this since I first got the compy 3 years ago I think :( )
OS: windows XP.
I used to run PR with almost all settings on low except for geometry and view distance , and still got stuttering until I had seen virtually the whole map and even then some, never really had FPS problems though. So I'm hoping the upgrade combined with a clean virus free PC will kick some, true?

youll be able to run all high with that rig but i realy suggest you upgrade your cpu cos it is a major bottleneck seeing how you have a 8800gt. Is your ram DDR2 800?

So they can fight each other? :P
But in all seriousness, an E2160 overclocked to a mild 2.5-2.8ghz will unbottleneck that GPU for the most part, and costs a measly ~$90

Also if you're using DDR2 667mhz ram it's going like hotcakes for ~$50 [2gb] so you could have a total of 4, for future proofing [when you get a 64bit OS]

With an inferior card I play with everything maxed out, except AA which is at 4x @ 1680x1050. Here's some charts to help you out:
http://www23.tomshardware.c om/graphics_2007.html?m odelx=33&model1=778&model2=1057&chart=278
That'll give you a rough idea of what to expect when maxing out games. To find the resolution closest to yours (if it isn't listed there) do the multiplication of the x & y to get total pixel count, then pick the one slightly higher than yours to be pessimistic.

I think anything over a 22 or 24 is to big for games. Depends on brand to price also. Chinese stuff is around $300.
