Taken from the PR Forums
Dear Community,
On the dawn of a new release, we think it is a good time to remind our community to please be kind to newcomers that are trying Project Reality for the first time. All of you are veterans as you have been well-informed through the use of these forums, had your questions answered by developers, and have ample experience with playing Project Reality. Many newcomers will look to you for their questions and guidance as you have looked to us.
Please be respectful in helping anyone with problems. Don't have an elitist attitude.
Please be willing to provide answers. The learning curve for PR has increased dramatically just with this release alone.
Please help us make the Project Reality Community the best community a mod can offer!!!Thank you very much,
The Project Reality Team

Guys wont matter in about 6-12 hrs....those maps might be gone
The thread is about helping the new players out while we all learn the ropes with 0.708...
The anticipation around this game will surely see a huge influx of new players, we were the only Aus servers and hence the only place to play PR but this may change So we need to give these new players a reason to choose us as their prefered servers.
So keep this in mind! Helping players in the game by answering the questions and more importantly telling players in your squad about the Forum Community and where to find it helps us in the long run.. More Educated Players Online ...(perhaps we could start a Q&A thread for new players to ask question's)
More importantly as I have said before it helps build & improve the community as its a place to get to know who you play with, learn a few things and MOST importantly have your say on things...

do we still get shovels? we should have a scripted reply in the commo rose (assuming we still have that - going away to read the manual now)
Sgt.trip
31st December 2007, 09:40 AM
haha..... yes read the manual its all in there
most people get shovels now(ie basic kits get em)! there is a special commander instruction, like the landing zones he can put on the map so ppl know where to go build!

dont get rid of mestia/phoenix! just switch them around in the rotation so every time it crashes we dont have to play them instantly
AncientMan
31st December 2007, 10:22 AM
Phoenix is gone anyway, as well as Street and Helmand Province.

God dam it Ancient!!!
stop spoiling all the fun! let us find something out for ourselves PLEASE :P:P:P
P.S -- although helmand was good :( , and phoenix was fun until it was played to much cause of server crashing!
p.p.s -- will the new server files fix server crashing???

What are we "Oprah"? You know GruAncH, just cause you adopt a newbie in PR, doesnt count towards your "Community Service Time", NOR does it count as a Tax deduction! :)

Hey guys, just more to the point that Darth/PR team was making, I've been letting people on Whirlpool (http://www.whirlpool.net.au ) know about PR, and last night we had three of them join up on the Bi-Ming map and a bit before that. They can be easily spotted with the (@) tag which they wear as an identifier. If you see any of them around, if you wouldn't mind inviting them to your squad and showing them the ropes, there's a big community on whirlpool and we might get a decent influx of new players. My posts are here:
http://forums.whirlpool.net .au/forum-replies.cfm?t=894053 &p=-1#bottom (You'd have to join to see it, although if you're not already a member of whilrpool, you really should be) :)

Dude - Whirlpool (a.k.a Whingepool) is a deeply argumentative flame-fest that is also an outstanding source of technical info about most matters Telco and IT. It's probably the most mainstream forum in Australia for tracking ICT matters and provided you can filter out the inevitable dickheads it is really quite good.
I used to be a member of the (@) psuedo-clan before I discovered (bD) and I can attest that they are mostly like minded folks to us. Well worth doing some recruiting in there methinks since it is not an actual clan...

Personally I don't find any more dickheads on whirlpool than I do walking down the street at night.. but then again perhaps I'm more tolerant of "internet people" and a little less tolerant of drunk slobs parading their idiocy in public property.
Pretty much all my PC/IT/Telco knowledge comes from activity on the Whirlpool forums, it's an amazing tool, and helps you keep up to date with the latest happenings (IT related of course). Here's me, since it's so hard to make the association normally :hi:
