he must of got the GS 1200 which is not the dakar
the F650 gs "dakar" (the one used in dakar, lighter then 1200 or 1150) is only about 15,000
but there is a new 800 coming out for a mid range, im guessing that will be used in next yrs dakar.

Here's the bike you need mate.
KTM 660 (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/KTM-660-Rally-Dakar-motorcycle-collectors-item-enduro_W0QQitemZ1201 98734316QQihZ002QQca tegoryZ102690QQtcZph otoQQssPageNameZWDVW QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem )
This is a rare bike, less than 30 are hand made in Austria each year and an 07 model will set you back $47,000.00
Oh and if you like the Adventure bikes, start drooling at all the trips on these 2 sites
ADV Rider (http://www.advrider.com/forums/)
Horizions Unlimited (http://www.horizonsunlimite d.com/)
Both will make you want to chuck in you job and go riding around the world for a few years.

Honda don't have an adventure bike worth buying, I've had Honda Motorcross bikes and the odd fireblade or two but for adventure bikes it's KTM or BMW all the way.
I really like the late model Triumphs, never owned one but would easily make some space in my garage for one.

Not heard about that one. I know they have their 'Transalp'

I'm still a big fan of the KTM's. Since I first got on one about 4 years ago I havent bought anything else, for the dirt that is.

Yeah he brought it over the other day, very shiney silver. But I reckon no bikes worth paying $28k.
And my old man mentioned it was a 1.1 or 1.2.
For me, my wr250 does the job ;) It eats tight fire trails.

I used to work at the old High School in Holder... until
I had to quit in November...
So - you are West of Weston, technically...
