i know how you feel
from my understanding of not playing yet the only place you can spawn without a commander is on a rally or main base

Sounds. They are fantastic when you're at a distance, the gun sounds vary alot.

No more spraying with any automatic weapon except the Support Kit. Bullets fly all over the place, no longer can you hit someone in the head at 300m with nothing but full auto.

Everything is good.

stupid files....

did the core files real quick! :) 200+k/s average (no d/l manager jus straight from a site)

but now the second part, the level files are taking forever. only getting between 60k/s to 105k/s :(


so my 6pm estimate is way off now another 1hr atleast :(
and to make things worse my Girlfriend is coming over so prolly wont get on tonight at all!!

server crashes still occur sorry to say

It's gonna take some getting used to,
Getting ammo is, well, um........difficult (probably just because we don't know what we're doing yet:P)
Guys with H_AT and engineers running around like their heads are chopped off, trying to get ammo.
There's now a 3 minute wait before the round starts, and now I know why.....
It's to allow time to get organized.
Like daveee said, the sounds are fantastic. (especially the distant sounds)
The m16 sounds great (and has new iron sights aswell as the ACOG yeeeaaaa)
The British weapon sound is no longer annoying and sounds great.
Spawning is different (to say the least) you can only spawn on bunkers, firebases, RP's and mapper placed spawn points,
which sounds a bit different but when you actually go to spawn, your like "wtf i can't spawn, oh yeah that's right"
So yeah, it's different, but GOOD different.

EDIT--> oh yeah - Fools Road is ORGASMIC!!!!

From the little bit I have played of this map this morning it causes a fair bit of Chug much worse than even the old version of Albasrah I assume its because of the 50 millions trees on the map. :wacko:

Only thing that needs changing is another game mode!

AAS is getting kinda boring, some attack/defend/stronghold type thing would be interesting.

I have to say I love the flying aspect. Flying planes is much improved, and lockons are just about the death of you, if not, at least big damage will be taken. Makes you appreciate your plane more, skirting around the edges, striking when needed.
Brit weapons do sound great!!

Gotta have riflemen/support gunners close by for ammo for things like the LAT, etc...

Its terribly easy to get disorientated or even lost without the mini map too.
I thought this mod was reality before - brother you aint seen nothing yet!

fools road while looking pretty is the most unbelievable laggy map ever in PR, or probably any bf2 map for that matter. ive never gotten below 10 fps on any map b4, but i do on fools road. i even turned everything to off/low with resolution 800 by 600 and i still got down to 10 fps. that map needs serious optimization and was a huge turn off for me.

I found the same thing in a vehicle, getting around 15fps in a vehicle = almost unplayable

When I'm doing 'ground work' (out of a vehicle) it's fine, around 25-30 fps, but it's still playable.

Need a new rig I guess. :(

this is so depressing. we've waited so long for 0.7 and now we cant play it :(
we at least need to update the small maps server as i think that one didnt crash as much

I'm going to plead with Wob @ iiNet if he'll look at getting a server up... he might be busy though... I guess I can only try.

well not much we can do about it - server 2 should be swapped over to 0.7 tonight and we will keep working on the issue

its funny that the server was stable for over 24 hrs up until about 6pm tonight. we had up to 12 players on during the day but unsure of the numbers when the crashes occurred.

It was about the time when we were getting some decent numbers, I think it was up to eight or ten a side on Gulf of Oman when it became massively jittery and eventually crashed. I've sent tank @ iiNet an email asking if they'd set up a temporary PR server while we iron out the issues here @ GSA. My loyalties will always reside with BigD and GSA... but guys, I want to play PR

Yeah it went to the crap house on Oman. Lag spikes, then it settled down for a minute and crashed. This seemed to be the case with most of the other crashes too, a whole lot of stutter/lag - decent game play and then bang...dead.

I started downloading late after noon today, with many troubles today lol including car break down, my bro had a good 2inch by 3 inch flap of skin peel off some how on the hot road (no shoes) while both pushin the car off road. Then goes to hospital, they call sydney for advice lol then getting home and finaly starting the download at 4pm.

Only getting 90-100kbs split over both files, 45-50 each. Taking 7hrs to get them both was sad since my connection can get upto 150kbs :(

If I knew it was out this morning I woulda got it since I was up till 4am.

Anyway, nothing to die over. Ive got 30mins left till its done then Ill get on and have a look at what all the fuss is about.

Well server 2 seems to be running fine atm, though I probably just jinxed it. It's been going strong for the last 6 or so hours, even got it full with 32/32 for a round or two. Ranking seems to have been taken off though (since everyone is a private), but doing this "may" have fixed the problem. I also have noticed server 1 has had ranks removed as well, so hopefully when the servers fill up tomorrow (today actually) we shall see if the problem has been fixed. If it has, thank god. If it hasn't, well lets not go there.

NOOOOO! After using up most of my offpeak quota to download from GSA, then deleting PR 0.6, I now have the attached error on install!
A corrupt file perhaps? I'm in a world of pain!

Well maybe im just lucky.

I woke up new years day, at about 1pm......logged on and there were the files and instructions (tankyou).....did as requested...

Downloading at about 160kb over 2 files.....Few hours to spare?

OFF to the beach.....swam and cooled down...looked at boobies....then came home with some fish n chips....still an hour or so to go...so off to the toilet and then a cold shower to wash of the sea salt.....and badda boom it was ready.

Install.......Play.. ...Crash...Crash.... .Crash....Crash....C rash....Swap to small server....Play....Pl ay.....Play.....Play ....Play.

I think it was Ancient that said it might all be to do with the Ranking thingy??? that might be good news?

The Game:

At first....I couldnt Swear at it enough....It drove me nuts....and i mean the kinda nuts that makes you stab some body:) lol.

But i started getting my schwing back..and it got better.

Cons: Aiming..seems that only 1 in 4 bullets register (but apparantly ive just not mastered this new way).

Has some maps i hate (old maps).

Everything is just harder!!!

Pros: New maps.

- Everyone would have to admit......there is now a seemingly even MORE realistic feel to this game?? which i think will become VERY addictive, once we settle into the new quirks. In one game for a moment i felt like a real soldier (obviously my life wasnt in danger....and i wasnt knee deep in mud with leaches on my face) BUT....It felt like a hard slogfest...pinned down from the hills, grenades going of left right and centre....smoke all around...and tonnes of suppressing fire....taking our team ages, just to get ahead another 20m.....it felt real, frustrating, and draining.

I LOVE IT....its like a whole new level, i hope other people will begin to realise that yes its a biatch to master....but its that challenge that makes this game like no other.

- Love that you only need 2 squad members to set rally.

All in All....this game will have longgevity (sp) Which we will all appreciate down the track.....But like anything that superceeds is rivals....it will need a few tweaks.

8.5/10 (if it had nekkid girls id give it a full 10/10)

loving the sounds of the crack whip

loving the recoil (more realistic)

loving the running around in circles working out which way to go

loving the way you need to double crew tanks/apcs

Fantastic revisions.

Lols at the comms tho. Since there is no minimap and no spotting, comms is very very important.

I lolled quite a few times with my squad on ghost train yesterday..

"there is a guy on the hill!!!"

"which hill?"

"the one with trees on it"

"WTF!!!"

bam.. dead..

"ooo that hill"

the new compass is fantastic, you can give accurate bearings. The comms soon turn to - "there is a squad moving about 30 degrees (or north east) from the south bunker at 100m."

"got em, they are all dead"


it was fantastic.


air support - the laser guiding was orgasmic. The laser guide gives you a bearing on the attack, so you dont overshoot and kill the SL that asked for it.

in the a-10 it was great seeing those laserguided bombs hit home, but you could also use the main cannon too as the target is easy to see.

you know... I am requesting from Bigpond that they mirror the files so I get unmetered download and some little idiot said it was a "failed mod" and that no one wanted to play it because they were too in love with stats... geez

I hope the server problems get fixed... personally I don't care if you kick the stats/ranking system... if that's what causes the problem...

ditto. i see no need for a stats / ranking system. and if removing it out stops the server crashes, so much the better.

Guys play on server 1 as well... Server 1 has also had it's ranking system removed, we need to see if it still crashes.

When you left, and others with you. Server 2 keept going.

No crash's that I saw, I was on till 4.30am. I started playing at about 1.30am. So when you asked if it was to crash after you left to let you know.. well it didnt crash..
Wasnt many of us ontho, 5-6 for the most part.

Its because the kit you had at death is no longer available. Choose another kit and you spawn time goes back to normal.

Note that the 6000 second spawn time (wrong kit selected) is buggy - sometimes when you have just a rifleman kit selected it still does this. You just need to select a different kit for a moment and it will disappear allowing you to select the orginal kit again.

hey why cant we get rid of server 1 which doesnt work anyway and have server 2 solely on the one box and up its player limit and map sizes to 64??
seems the thing to do considering server 1 still doesnt work with the ranks removed whereas server 2 does work. ive never seen server 2 crash so its obviously stable.

Server two crashes as well, just fewer people play on it thus less crashes. Comprendes amigo?

yesterday i played about 6 maps in a row with the full 32 ppl with no crashes. cant say the same about server 1 ever, and yesterday most of the maps were still 64 player size. played for a couple of hours today on server 2 with no crashes either

both the servers are on the same box and have the same files etc loaded on them.

I have seen server 2 crash 3 times today - same number as server 1

revised - i watched the servers crash and people move to the other only to have it crash again

im sorry guys we are trying to fix it but are very quickly running out of option
