i've(my family has) used up 16GB of my(our) 25GB onpeak, its renewed on the 13th.

i hate my plan. its suppose to be a 50gb but 25 is thrown away between 1am and 9am.

can't wait till i switch to internode.

those are the worst, especially with BF2 sending plenty of data back and forth, thats why im going internode soon as my current plan runs out, uploads dont count :D

Being truthful, I find PR doesnt use up much of my limit - its more about downloading torrents, and not being able to use private sites as I just cant afford to waste space uploading the things Ive just downloaded - ie one 700mb movie becomes a gig and a half in order to share it back properly and maintain a decent ratio.
So I have to put up with limited sources and slower speeds (Still fast enough though, better than no torrents at all!!).

You need USENET :)....no uploading & VERY FAST SPEEDS. But you have to pay :(. $8-10 for 20gbs or about $20-30 for Unlimited access.

No... usenet isn't an ISP... it's a news subscription service, with binaries included. The binaries are the torrent-like files that you download. The difference is that the data is no longer coming off peers, but a central(ish) server. The $30 unlimited means you have unlimited access to their files, with X number of retention days blah blah blah. These costs are on TOP of your ISP costs. And if you're with Rip off Telstra or Optus, you're already paying too much for your internet connection... so doubt it'd make financial sense :)

Then again, that is the beauty of their plan ranges... you can subscribe for like 10-50GB and pay less than the unlimited subscription. Personally I don't think it's worth paying money to pirate things... if you're willing to pay money, I believe it should go to the people developing the software :wacko::wacko:

5GB? My word, how do you survive?! With 20GB I was almost always capped on the last day, but then again I do have both myself & brother on the connection, chewing through 70-90MB an hour on PR... 3-6 hours a day... 4-7 days a week... which is almost 4GB a week just on PR (at max)... Not to mention new versions which are ~2GB, TV shows that take forever to get here (~3GB a month) and then the odd "game demo" which totals ~3-4.7GB

we had to swich to Utorrent on our linux server due to Azureus crapping out
but the funny thing is Utorrents is a windows only and Azureus is both

If you like space fighter sim, Freespace 2. It went open source so you can get it for free. Fairly old game, but a seriously good engine, even better since it's open source, so theres a bunch of mods and stuff. If you want I can find the download link that comes with the mods and stuff already installed. Also, Beyond the Red Line (came first in the indie game of the year 2007 in the recent moddb awards), a Battlestar Galactica game is based on this engine (though it's only demo atm :(). Takes a fair bit to get used to though, and requires a joystick...

Dwarf Fortress! Its free... I have wasted hours on that bloody ASCII game. Freakin addictive once you get through the interface. Its a combination of Evil Genius, Stronghold and the Sims, in ASCII form. With Dwarves.
