View Full Version : Score per Minute - some of the stats are interesting!

Hi All,

I was cruising through the stats for Server 1 earlier and noticed some interesting anomalies. The Score Per Minute figure is a good one. We can draw a couple of very loose conclusions about players abilities and or playing styles from this - of course these conclusions won't apply to everyone and they only apply to players who have played more than a few hours on the server but still...

Score < 8 - either a conservative player or perhaps one with less experience

8 < Score < 11 - most of the regular players who are pretty good

11 < Score < 14 - either damned good players or else big risk takers in-game (or armour players).

OK - no great surprises there. A low score doesn't mean the player is a newb, they might have a conservative playing style or else they might be an Engineer specialist or something.

Scan through the list, though, and you see a handful of players with SPM off the scale, including one guy at 24+. Now, statistically that might be a fluke if he only played one round and had a blinder but there are a number of other players with scores >15 who I would characterise as "blow ins".

I wonder if the SPM might not be useful as a pointer to us on who to watch out for, umm, shall we say less than squeaky clean software installations?

I had a quick look. The people with the high SPM only had play times of less than 2 hours. PR's high scores + low play time = high SPM. It's expected.

12.3 here for server 1. Only a couple people higher than me on first page of 50. Wheres my prize? :P

On a more serious note - it really depends on what you do..you get a lot of points as a SL, which is what I am mainly doing. Building assets and sitting on a flag defending it get you a tonne of points as opposed to driving people around in a chopper you'll only get a few points for the transportation.

eh, SPM means nothing, all stats can be thrown out of contexts with many variables, time being a big one.

judge the player, not the stats ;)

Agree with Daveee.

Though if you want to gauge how good a player is from their stats I find it is better to find out their kills and deaths as well as score.

Some conclusions I have made from in game match by match scores:

High kills + high deaths = risk taker, front line assaulter.

Low kills + low deaths = Conservative player, Defense oriented.

High kills + low deaths = Above average player or having a good match.

Low kills + high deaths = Below average player or having a bad match.

High overall score = team oriented, medic, builder, leader.

Low overall score = new to game or not team oriented.

Looking at a players persistent stats:

Higher SPM usually points to a more team oriented player.

Higher KDR usually points to a better shooter/frontline soldier.

Lol I remember alot of rounds lately where I may have only been in 1 or 2 firefights in the whole hour or so. Yes, playing a bit conservative lately, PR just doesn't give me that high anymore unless I'm sneaking behind enemy lines.

Good is a relative term.

Sure you might suck at shooting people, but if you can get a decent score as a commander it means you're doing a good job at that and ultimately helping your team which actually makes you a good player.

play your strengths..

commanding might be your go..

or simply providing transport, or being a mobile mechanic for your armour

it all helps the team.. and i would rather have a team full of these types of people then a team full of rambos.
