Well on my path to being a modeling genius (cough), I have to start somewhere. I've made a few random things before like a chess pawn and a round table, but I need to learn how to do things via editable polys (how you model weapons and vehicles), so this is my first creation using that technique. I present, "A Simple Pen".

Used this random pen that I had sitting on my desk at the time as a reference.

Not exactly perfect, but I think it's good enough for a 3ds max n00b and 3 hours worth of effort.

Tris: 778
Polys: 365

Might use this as a learning model, maybe figure out how to UV map, skin from scratch, import into BF2 as a weapon (oh yeah, a pen as a knife :P), and stuff like that.

Actually he did it with a mouse.. D: Nevertheless, I'd like a wacom tablet, not an ancient one from 1998 with no pressure sensitivity from some no name company that's probably under the water.

hes inhuman, spent a couple of months and has compolsive disorder if he did that with just with a mouse. but ya i once was bout 3 secs away from a tablet. would help with the modeling (getn bak on track, i can see a post comn) and re-skinning of some things.

Yeah, I want a tablet, would be great. Just that good ones are expensive, and the cheaper ones are crap, so you need to go for the good ones really.

Did you lathe it or was it built with polys? I can't remember where I heard it but I recall that lathing adds far too many "tri"s or polys or something. Not a modeller but I did do the chess tutorial and it was fun :)

it looks pretty simple aye but phew did i spend some hours on that
(no not telling it's embarrassing)

prolly just cause i'm such a n00b at modeling, but i'll get there
"try try again" and all that crap ;)
