Just get a BF2 mini-image and mount it with daemon tools or alcohol 120% [depending which you have].
Mini-image (http://m1009.gamecopyworld. com/games/pc_battlefield_2.sht ml#Battlefield%202%2 0%5BALL%5D%20No-DVD/Fixed%20Image%203)
It contains everything your PC needs to play BF2/PR, but not install it. You'll need to "source" a new CD/DVD if you need to reinstall. As long as you have your CD-Key still, you can just bum a cd off a friend and make your own full ISO since there's no copy protection [at least EA did something right].
If you need to know what your BF2 cdkey is (lost the case, but still have the game installed), just use this:
- regedit (I assume you know what that is)
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\S OFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2\ergc
- Your cdkey will be there
- It might have x9392 preceding it.... don't worry too much about that.

My pleasure! Spread the joy, as they say :)
I'm surprised people are still playing with CDs, the world of images and mini-images is a wonderful one :).

Hmm.. I have always run with an Alcohol copy of the full BF2 CD1 mounted.
Looking at the mini images info, do you need to worry about renaming the virtual drive to avoid blacklisting as they state - presumably by EA?

It looks like they added Safedisk protection to the BF2:SF release, as I can only see the blacklisting comments about the SF images. (Oh there, I see what you mean, about #1 - Use the #3 mini image, it's a year on and does not seem to have that restriction)
When it says blacklisted, I believe it simply means that the game will refuse to recognize that device (the virtual drive) as a legitimate media source, and thus you'd have to re-create your virtual drives under a different hardware ID and change the apparent "driver names" (according to the site).. Then again, I've never had any issues like that, so don't quote me ;)

cheers guys for the help. I just put up with no PR for a few days. Just went to the pub, got drunk and then came home and trawelled the forums for my PR fix.....as some may have noticed.
