*sigh* Here we go again (PR not loading)

Hey guys,

As you probably know, a month or so ago I got a new rig. Awesome! Unfortunately my old 21" CRT gave up the ghost so I invested in the Viewsonic 28" shortly thereafter.

I just tried to load PR (and 'nilla) but every time I do, I get the splash screen, the screen will go black - as per usual - then I'm deposited back at my desktop.

Nothing.

Any suggestions?

try deleting your profiles and all the settings in "My Documents">"Battlefield 2".

hmm... have u tried a reinstall? I vaguely recall having this problem a fair while back but i dont remember what i did.

Most likely to do with your refresh rate. Very common problem, just type "BF2 crash on startup" in google.

i had this on my new rig.

Take out any custom command line details you have for screen size (if you have any)

Load up the game and get into a server fully (should be able to)

then quit game and change command line of shortcut and reboot computer.

Took me a few goes but havent had a issue since.

And if all other advice fails you could try reinstalling the BF2 patch,
then if that doesn't work try reinstalling PR and finally if that doesn't work you could try reinstalling the whole lot, BF2, PR, BF2 patch.

Try running BF2 in a window>

Play BF2 In a Window
To play Battlefield 2 in a window, right click your Battlefield 2 shortcut. In the Target section, change "+ fullscreen 1" to "+ fullscreen 0" You will get a windowed version of the game.

Well, hockey season is over, so now I'm running BF2 windowed. It's good, but feels a little strange...
