Maps/missions on Arma 2 Servers

I am confused by something ...

All of the maps/missions (whatever they are called) that have a decent number of players on the server all seem to be mods of some sort. Why isn't anyone playing the multi-player game as I saw in the demo?

Or do I need to adjust my expectations :)

Are you patched to the latest?

ARMA is a huuuuuuuuge game for modding which is why it lasted so well with arma1. If you want to stay ahead of the times youl need to be getting the mods everyone plays. Tho you shouldnt really need anything yet I dont thinlk?

Internode has 2 servers up each one has about 15-20 people. I dont think they require anything. Im looking at getting on now to have my first online game of arma 2.

I can play the mods; I wanted to give the vanilla game a go as well but there doesn't seem to be the interest afaik.
