Ok ... a few guys now have copies of ARMA 2, please share your purchasing experiences with the rest of us who are yet to buy.

I live in Perth, can anyone suggest a good place to get a copy please?

Cheers,

Wal

Steam does seem like a great idea, it's just hard to break the life long habit of having games on something you can hold in hand ..... such as CD, floppy or tape (for those with good memories :)

meh unlimited downloads during off peak times so re-downloading doesn't mean that much.

This doesn't always work, it only downloads from the source you ask if the file is available on that server but with new release games you will find its generally there. ;)

ARMA II Key - AU$22
http://www.g2play.net/store/Arma-2-Armed-Assault-2-CD-Key.html

You can download the setup files from:
http://gs01.games.gs.plat.n et.au/~arma/patches/ArmAII/
Arma2_Setup-1.bin
Arma2_Setup-2.bin
Arma2_Setup-3.bin
Arma2_Setup-4.bin
Arma2_Setup.exe

Use a download manager, as they will almost certainly corrupt without one.

How do you play that one Wolffy? Mine requires the cd to be in, do you burn the cd or something, or does that version not require a cd to be in the drive?

You install directly from the files - no burning to CD's/DVD's necessary. It then registers over the Internet with SecureRom.com. No DVD required to be inserted to play after that.

Two guys that work with me did and they've been playing online for about 2 weeks now.

Are you using the English version or German w/English addon? AFAIK the key is for the German version. The download provided in the post is the German version. I currently have the German version myself and it works perfectly with the language add-on.

No not at all - we have a local mirror of the German install here (http://gs01.games.gs.plat.n et.au/~arma/patches/ArmAII/), when we were all purchasing the first release online from Germany. You need the *.bin and Arma2_setup.exe.

Yeah, I bought the uncut version, I want BLOOD DAMNIT!

Sigh, no reply from these clowns, I'm just gonna buy it from Steam and consider it a lesson learned....

Aww don't tell me they've lamed it up and taken out blood/gore??

If so, am I better off not buying from a store over here? Which one do I need?

There is blood in my version - even a setting for it in Game Options.

The only difference I know of is the language, hence the requirement for the addon.

i got blood too, got it from EB games also, and also theres strong lanuage. so dont think its different at all.
