Ok, so i want to make a map in Mission editor. i have some good ideas for a mission and would like to give it a go so... for instance i tried laying a C130 on the airstrip and lined up 3 x M240HMVV as if they were "deployed from the plane, with 2 lines of troops either side of the HV's
i have messed with the properties every way i can see how and yet when i load the map all the people i layed down are Moving, the C-130 is trying to earn fly by points... and i just get fustrated and bail.
so as a way of counter acting my rage quits in mission editor, i have now come to my fellow frontlinee's to help me, although being one of the more technical issues i am sure it will be some "Officer" communicating from some Air con'd Hotelroom who will come to my rescue.

First of all, a map is different to a mission.
Secondly, if you place men in squads, they automatically move into the default formation if you have not set one (i.e. Position themselves around the squad leader. If you want to force them to stay still you need to put "this forceSpeed 0" without quotes in their init line. However they will now be unable to move unless given a waypoint with a killswitch for the forceSpeed. If you want vehicles to stay still you need to create them as an empty vehicle (Its a separate category from BLUFOR, OPFOR etc) Its not supposed to be a very simple editor, however it is extremely powerful when you know what you are doing. Im still learning heaps and iv spent countless hours mucking around.

ok first off im guessing they are all in a group? if u want it just for screenshots or something get them all out of that group, or they will try to reform their formation. to do this just select the group button on the right hand pannel. now click and drag from each unit, youll see the blue line connecting them dissapear, now they are no longer in a group and shouldn't move an inch (unless shot at lol) theres also another way but involves adding a line of code to the units init line and i just cant be stuffed finding it lol
anyway anymore troubles jsut let me know.
