Trouble with starting PR

hi there guys,


I'm having trouble with pr every time i open it when it comes up with the black sand studio it freezes and it does not respond.

anyone know what to do?

make a copy of your PR shortcut and add +fullscreen 0


Right click on the shortcut

Select properties

Select shortcut tab

Edit the the target so it looks something like :

"C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" +fullscreen 0



This will start it up in windowed mode so you can see any errors which may give us a clue.

it's probably an invalid path because a) you don't have 64 bit o/s?

was just an example...
"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" +fullscreen 0

would be more likely if you don't

i've tried that but same problem it freezes as soon as u open it and when i press ctrl alt del and says not responding

what are your system specs?

how long do you leave it before panicking and hitting cntl alt del?

i hit it after about 10 secs


and also how do i check my system specs?

1) leave it for a few minutes...before touching anything else to see what happens.

2) to find your system info
a) go to your desktop
b) press f1
c) search on system information
d) select View your computer information or something (it's different with different types of windows I think)

Ohhh I think I might know what this is, although I can't quite tell from your description because detail = -1 in this thread.

Go to your "My Documents" folder, delete the "Battlefield 2" folder in there, then load up normal BF2, give it a while and it should load up ok. You will lose all your settings (audio, video & controls) but it should fix the issue. You can backup the folder if you're worried about losing your settings, but give it a go. Fixed a long running issue for me that sounds similar to your problem.

It worked fine until i got to the account crap then it was connecting to account sever left it for 5 mins came back and was like that still so i got bak to desktop shud i just reinstall pr

It might be the seasons greetings images taking a while to load...what's your internet connection like (are you capped?)

not anymore just got off capped and i diden't realize i was capped opened pr and then thats when i noticed it got uncappedo n christmas day and thats when i had the prob

restart your computer and keep trying PR and exiting it until it works. Same problem, fixed it through sheer stubborness.

To do a screendump hit PRTSCR button.

Paste that into paint or irfanview or whatever

Save the picture

Upload it to photobucket or similar.

Typing, while laughing - Mato, press Start (Bottom left of your screen), Select Run which should be to the right of the "All Programs" button. If your on Vista/Windows 7, enter the command in the search box in the start menu.

Run doesn't show up in Vista/7 by default (at least it doesn't for me), you have to enable it by right clicking the start button, properties, start menu, customise, and check "Run Command". Then press ok and ok.
