Re: iPhone
I cant bring myself to Jailbreak yet....not for any legal/ non legal, reasons....purely because what i heard isnt good.....essentially you turn an expensive piece of contract hardware into a PC and thus make it vulnerable for viruses.....although , the apps are too expensive and the camera is absolutely GARBAGE....and the itunes way of load unload (allthough makes it a quick process) makes it unbelievably difficult to upload seperate content (want a song on, then alll your songs go on) i wouldnt buy another one....i prefered my LG Viewety, sure it wasnt as cool looking, but it was piss easy to use. sorta.

Re: iPhone
I quite like my iPhone, i think its a great piece of kit. My only beef is that the thing is locked down so tight it should be producing diamonds!
Those things tho dont bother me until i actually try and do one of them, then its like ARRRGGGGHHHH!!!

Re: iPhone
I just make Playlists then sync it/them, not individually ticked tracks/box's. With 42 days of muZic, it'd be hard to keep track of it all...... tick, tick, tick, tick....... And it only sync's whats not on it already, well does for me anyway... |

Re: iPhone
We've had a few people bring Iphones into work that have been jailbroken and they're rubbish. People raved about doing it when they first got Iphones but now that they've lost Bluetooth connectivity and their phone freezes up every second day because they've messed up the things OS they tend to hate it.

Re: iPhone
Those wanting to track their internet usage can try these apps (both FREE)
Quick Usage http://limutil.com/quickusage.html ![]() ![]() Supports the following ISPs: Optus Internode iiNet aaNet Bigpond Exetel (really? WHY?!?!) Netspace TPG For mobiles, well thats all in the above screenie. Next is FluidQuota http://www.blastcube.com/FluidQuota.html ![]() Currently only supports iiNet according to their site but says they should be adding other ISPs. Have both on my iPhone, both work okay but I prefer FQ over QU as it just seems to blend with the iPhone better graphics wise. Also QU appears only to support the one account as fiddling with it I cant get back to the main accounts page without deleting my iiNet account on the phone.

Re: iPhone
Quick usage is great
Some other appstore goodies i recommend Moodagent (free) - like genius playlists but better. makes a playlist based off the song you have playing in ipod (or one you choose). limited to 20song each time tho. Boxee remote (free) - control boxee on your pc Tripview (free) - public transport guide for sydney (there is a similar one for melbourne that is great also) Nimbuzz (free) - best allround messenger i have found, loads contacts from skype, msn, facebook, gmail, etc - will do calls and let you send files Dropbox (free) - access and sync files with your dropbox account Evernote (free) - add and access your evernote account Tide app i forget the name of - free also Reasons why you would jailbareak your phone Lockinfo (free trial but paid app)- basically makes your fone a real phone. Gives you a lockscreen (and a homescreen on your springboard) with all your important info in one place - sms's, emails, missed calls, weather calendar events coming up and if you choose it can also include rss feeds, twitter and facebook notifications. ![]() there are several free options for this but nothing as good as lockinfo Proswitcher (free) - multitasking. these two alone are why i did it - but there are a lot of other reasons bluetooth a file to your friend or home computer? download something while your browsing the web? many more features that jailbreak can add |

![]() http://flashback.manomio.co m/ Just bought this the other day! Found this for those who remember the old game for PC...
iNethack Dev site - http://blog.dirkz.com/ Quote:
![]() The same guy has also done another 'harder' game called Slash'em, dling now to see what its like. [edit] also for those of you (like me) who have updated their firmware to 3.1.3 and then lamented that all it did was nerf a JB'd iPhone, apparently there is a JB for it. Bear in mind i haven't tried this out so not 100% sure if its accurate or not, but the source is: ---> http://forums.whirlpool.net .au/for...fm?t=146417 1 points to this url -> http://www.iclarified.com/jailbreak/...s/firmware.php and there is a firmware in there called Sprint which apparently unlocks your phone.

Re: iPhone
Got a 3GS 16GB for $25 thanks to a Telstra mistake (which I pointed out to them but thye said already billed... OK). Have charged it but not even put a SIM in yet. I love my HD2... Still figure I shoudl give the iPhone a whirl as getting used by a lot of people at work now, so want to know how to make it sing.

Re: iPhone
iPhone isn't bad, has a few quibbles (but those quibbles be damn huge!). If your not doing anything to provoke the wrath of said quibbles then you'll be totally fine with it. Just bear in mind that it isn't as open and free as other mobiles, so you'll be stuck with iTunes for syncing to your PC (great if you like iTunes, crap if you dont . . . sadly i'm in the latter camp), also you'll find that its locked down tighter than a nun's habit, so if you want to change settings etc you'll prolly want to JB it.

Re: iPhone
Okay well and good! iOS4.0 is out, who here has updated to it? I have, finally sync'd my iPhone with my Mac (will use that as my main book depository for the phone i think rather than have it switching between multiple PCs).
Seems pretty good so far, like the idea of the folders altho you cant have multiple folders in a folder say like a Games folder then sub FPS, RTS etc folders. Limit of 12 apps per folder which also sucks (have a lot more than that just in games!) Anywho, good review on iOS4 at Anandtech http://www.anandtech.com/show/3779/a...ios-4-explored Also a pretty decent review on the iPhone4 as well for those looking at that. http://www.anandtech.com/show/3794/the-iphone-4-review

Re: iPhone
Those considering buying the new Iphone, know this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ixIHyEPO5g Thousands of complaints and emails have been sent to Apple - Who I believe are getting sued for this? Basically massive design flaw in the way the stainless steel band is made as the receiver. Reception drops to no service when you hold it!

Adding the Apple case/bumper/whatever they call it, will sold the issue as you dont have a conductive surface ie hands doing their thing with the antenna. I saw an article on that yesterday on Tom's where a leaked Apple document said that they weren't going to provide the bumpers for free to fix this and they also had a line in there saying they weren't going to appease customers regarding this.

Re: iPhone
fyi for you iPhone owners out there, the App Store now has a 'free App of the week' for the iPhone (believe Android Market etc already have that?). Been out since WWDC 2012. Some decent ones have come up too so they aren't just throwing garbage at you.
