Re: Hiking Camping Bushwalking
On the subject of maps, was doing some GEOS1100 yesterday in a tutorial. We had a Geological Resources map of the greater SEQ area. Those things would be hella expensive but I really want one of them.
The cool thing was you could see where the Australian hotspot moved down the coast (forming all the ranges around the place) and all the volcanic remains of Mt Warning - just by the types of rocks that remain. Man I'm loving my degree!

Re: Hiking Camping Bushwalking
FWIW I like to go hiking (I'm a Venturer Scout leader) in my work boots - steel cap, lace up Olivers. They may not be uber-leet hiking boots, but they are super soft and comfy and I don't blister because they are already moulded to my feet from work.

Yeah i did that with my last few pairs of steel caps, sadly the last pair died on the last hike.

Re: Hiking Camping Bushwalking
Hey Salty, do you know any good camping spots sorta near Brissy? Preferably where we don't have to pay, and even more preferably near a beach.
Couple of mates want to get away from the dorm for a weekend and we were thinking Double Island Point even though it's like a 3hr drive.

Re: Hiking Camping Bushwalking
Sandy. What they don't know doesn't bother them!
Xavo - depends on your whole logistical thing - rucksacks and ferries and public transport or cars? 4WD? You could go for Moreton, North Straddie, Fraser, or Double Island Point, or ... Not too expensive, and magic camping is "Gordon Country" - http://www.gordoncountry.co m.au/ - about 2.5 hours from Bne. Not beach though. Caravan park at Kingscliffe (or nearby) - Nthn NSW? Right on the beach... |
