Not quite a technology advancement, but it probably doesn't deserve its own thread. An interesting read on the ENSO processes (El Nino/La Nina) over the past two years and explanations of how both climatic states occur.

Was literally in the process of typing that up McDeth. I watched the live stream, and it was pretty awesome.

I remember my Geology lecturer telling us last sem that the next manned mission into space/moon will have a doctor, a physicist and a geologist amongst the crew

Later 223, but who knows how many, and for how much longer it will survive....

Definitely nothing sustained or considered heavy use... Fractures are imminent!!
I wonder how long it will take to be controlled in some way....

Yep, read about 3D printing Titanium bikes in this months MTBA. So far they've only done some Titanium drop outs, but they're predicting the price of titanium printing will drop drastically in the next few years.
There's some talk of it not being as strong as traditional methods though, but I guess they'll figure that to.
