Re: Any shooters out there?
as close to a semi as you can get without getting a semi, really nice gun in 223 or 308 and more accurate than you would think with a short barrel like that.. only draw back is the weight, the pump is a little stiff on the ones i used but they were neigh brand-new.

Heavy? My only issue is the 7615/P only comes in .223 (5.56) or .308 (7.62), I'm looking for something smaller and already have a .270 so a .308 is out of the question and the .223 tends to be a useless calibre (ie; too light for pigs & too heavy for rabits/foxes). ![]() |

Re: Any shooters out there?
Why not just a semi automatic?
Rock River Arms is good. LAR-15 model. Spring for the national match model if you can afford. Don't have to muck around pumping. 223 is sufficient for pigs in my experience.

Re: Any shooters out there?
223 is plenty power full enough for pigs snowman and is a great all round riffle, with different loads and projectiles you can hunt pretty much anything, and fairly cheap to reload and maintain.

Re: Any shooters out there?
.223 is not 5.56, same dimensions, but not the same thing, same with 308 and 7.62.
223 isn't to big for foxes, it's over kill in rabbits, but unless you plan on eating them, what's the difference? .223 is too small for pig hunting. Most pigs can be had with a .223 but some can't, hate to let a big pesky one go because you don't have the firepower. Perfect calibers for Australia imo is .22 for rabbits and close range fox .223 for long distance rabbits and mid-long range fox .308 for deer and pigs (larger if you live in buffalo country and intend to hunt them) 12g for targets, rabbits in tight scrub, fox whistling And pigs in tight scrub

Hmm Smoke... the bureaucratic ties that bind...
I'm looking for a "Genuine Reason Address" to renew my license next year - the last two I've lost contact with the guys (changing priorities)but never actually shot on their properties. |

Re: Any shooters out there?
Can't a genuine reason be, Skeet shooting is f'ing awesome!!?!?!?
It's stupid in Australia that, I don't like people kicking in my front door at 3am isn't a good reason...... I have the following for that nonsense .Mostly and seriously though I bought it for bear defence. My Aussie missus was heavily anti firearm until she moved to Northern Canada. Grizzlies are bloody big and if you accidently find yourself between momma and her cubs you best be packin. SSG or Magnum Buckshot and some 3" 12Gauge slug mix for bush walking up here. Maybe Australia needs more nasty critters of the large carnivore variety? Yeah, Australia needs more stuff that can kill you!

Cast a few 455 Webley projectiles (262 grain Mk.1 ball) this afternoon. Nice and relaxing - got another box full for the next outing.
Circle of life; range scrap to projectile. ![]()

Re: Any shooters out there?
So as an Australian Citizen can I get a firearms license in NZed? Maybe I'll store them there and fly over for shooting?
If I get my hands on an M1 Garrand I want to keep it. No way to have a semi auto in Oz period right? Oh and is that ammo for a webley revolver?

Re: Any shooters out there?
You can have a Semi-Auto if your a professional hunter and have a D class license. It's impossible to get unless you plan on using as your main source of in-come.
Explained on this nufty's channel. http://www.youtube.com/user/steveleeilikeguns

Re: Any shooters out there?
I could not take part in a cull. It would bother me too much.
I want to take the odd deer and shoot clay or paper.

Re: Any shooters out there?
Quote:
M1 Garand falls under the rules of a MSSA here (bayonet lug & magazine capacity greater than 7 rounds). In short you need a big steel safe and a reason to own an MSSA. Sporting (3 gun, service rifle) and pest culling are good reasons. M14 Norinco on the other hand; that is general license material and you can load it with stripper clips bloody fast with practice. Yes, 455 Webley Mk1 ball pictured above. 45 Long Colt brass cut down and rim thinned from the front to Mk.1 455 spec.
