Chances are if you're in the PS2 beta, you've seen the Alpha squad package (called the smedly pack).

$40 gets you instant beta access (no key, whatever SOE account purchases the pack is cleared for beta access, just DL the client and you're set).
-$40 of ingame StationCash (smedbucks).
-Cammo's and some other stuff on the games launch (note NOT for beta).

If you know someone who really wants in on the beta, or plan on playing yourself but haven't gotten a key yet, it's a way in. It's also not bad value for anyone in the beta (if you don't plan on F2P grinding all your equipment).

More OT and a pointer for new players. Outfits ARE the way to play this game, lone wolfing or pugging isn't terribly rewarding unless you luck in on a recruiting squad. A modicum of organisation is required to achieve anything away from the main zerg ball.

Also squad beacons. Those things are quite literally dope. 2 Cert points under leadership.

I thought that was just an extra goodie they threw at everyone who had purchased it PRIOR to that point. So the early adopters got a 'freebie'.

Esamir is out. Had more epic battles in one day than an entire month running around Indar (the first continent). Not as pretty unless you have a snow/fog fetish, but the atmosphere and combat terrain are tremendous. NC happen to own the map outside of 'op hours' of the larger TR and Vanu outfits, but they get clobbered when it counts.

One day embedding videos in posts will work for me :/

Friggin NC stacking Esamir

Not sure why Indar is always balanced and Esamir is 70% NC all the time.

Luckily NC pilots can't fly for crap

Esamir is heavy NC because NC have the highest number of players in all the beta. When they opened up the East server most of the TR and VS pugs left the West server to play on the East one (because they got rolled on the West one and refused to stand and fight).

The first day of Esamir was good, the TR zerg were forced to fight and at least kept the NC from warplocking them. The VS are spastics and always fight the TR, no matter the pops.

And the NC don't own Esamir ALL the time. During 5pm-11pm EST (8am-2pm AEST) the enclave (largest TR outfit) takes the fight to Esamir and returns the map to some semblence of normal (we warplocked them on the first day when we had even pops and TR zerg backing, but now it's mostly just the one outfit vs 600 NC, it's pretty rough going).

Here is the Closed BETA Server Times - AEST (So those in QLD, WA, NZ & SA will need to adjust accordingly)

WEEKDAYS - 12am to 6pm
WEEKENDS - 8pm to 6pm (next day)

So today Saturday and tomorrow Sunday the servers will go down for 2 hours from 6pm and be back up at 8pm

Theres been a 2.5GB update

The have changed how resources work and named them differently they make more sense now, also Asset are cheaper now.

They have also fixed some buildings which were floating above the terrain

Along with all these fixes they have also broken other things so much more

They can't catch a break with this rescource system. Passive allows people to camp on an empty continent, active makes the entire map meaningless (spent 4hrs on the crown farming, didn't matter that we had no other bases).

Lots of big changes ahead still though.
