Taken liberal amounts of caffeine and duct tape to reach this point, but I am finally in the production stage of a new video that I am making.

Here are some quick renders I fired off in Autodesk Maya:

Doing my best to try and up the detail of the weapons. They have been ripped directly from Halo 3, and I have had to feed them through 3ds max before I could get them into Maya. Mental ray (the renderer) isn't liking the Battle Rifles bump maps at the moment! Also the model of Chief actually isnt that high poly, its the bump map that makes it look awsome :p

Although there are countless things utterly wrong with this video, it is a proof of concept for a space battle I am trying to pull off. I animated this thing in about 3 minutes, still took half the day to render...


The faint 'shadowy' things you can see in the middle of the explosion are bits and pieces that I didn't animate because I was lazy, and instead I just textured them black :p

From the open source software I use (Blender) comes their fourth 'Open Movie.'

I enjoyed it acting was o.k, and most visual effects were pretty damn good.

I perfected the sh** fluids I had going in the above video, I think the above is a much better improvement :p

Maya has this cool thing called 'fluids' that I am just getting into. It creates 3D explosions using voxels or something... that's what I read anyway. I was failing miserably creating my own, until I realized that Maya came with example explosions that I tweaked with to suit what I needed.

So urgh... I've finally finished the trailer for my Quake 4 Mod. This project is pretty much why I haven't been on PR in the last few months... that and some BF3, but mostly this... I mean it!
