Hmm, Moon I know they're not your words, but Switzerland's Lowest crime rate might be less about firearms, and more about standard of living, and other factors (like National Service, and quality education).

Mexico has s41tl04ds of firearms, and has cities with extremely high murder rates. Low standard of living, limited opportunity, large drug economy.

An armed society is a polite society. They have the largest standing army in the world as well as every bridge, tunnel and pass being designed to be able to be blown up with a small bit of explosive.

During the Cold War they had an underground bunker bed for every member of the country and underground air bases.

Everyone in that country is a rifleman. They keep their Sig 550s at their house ready to go. They qualify once a year and can rock up to the local range any time and shoot government ammunition.

When they are no longer in the militia they can keep their rifle.

They also have Bicycle Infantry. I have tremendous respect for anyone who would go to war on a bike.


Not only are they neutral but they back up their neutrality with a tremendous military force. Not just when it suits them to be neutral.

I am a Swiss citizen and my uncle in the homeland has a sniper rifle and ammo in his home,

twice a year the army comes around to make sure its all in its wrapping and hasnt been used,

if he gets the call to kick off, he is ready to do his thing, unwrap and move out

Hell I serve in the infantry and I know guys in my unit who think that any rifle with a scope is a sniper rifle. Then again infantry were never really known for their smarts. Hell if you can get us all firing in the same direction I'd say you are having a good day.

Talking about snipers, I fired my first gun the other night. My mates .177 calibre air rifle. After half a bottle of bourbon we decided to see who was the best shot.

Put a coke can 20m down range at night with nothing but a glow stick to light it up and I got 6 out of 6 *boom head shots*...coke can didn't stand a chance.

Not bad for a n00b lol

Half a bottle of bourbon and using firearms, people like you are the reason there are accidents. Do yourself and everybody else a favour and stay away from guns.

Naaww...alcohol effects people in different ways. Half a bottle would make some people legless for me it's the start of a good night

I have a very healthy respect for firearms, probably more so than a lot of people with a bit of plastic in their wallet that makes them think otherwise. Just look up the stats in Australia on gun related accidents/deaths...people like 'me' make up a very small percentage.

And if it helps you sleep better at night I have no intention what so ever of getting a gun of any sort. I've seen the stats on gun deaths in this country and it's not something I want to be part of.
