What are you reading?
Yes, some of us still do!
I'm more than happy to have books recommended. I'm currently reading "Bull Fighting" - Roddy Doyle. Finding it a bit prickly at times - a set of short stories about men getting older - a bit close to the bone. and "Special Forces Heroes" - Michael Ashcroft - a great read about extraordinary people. Just finished "The Pirate of Tobruk" - Alfred B. Palmer - his life was fascinating. |

Re: What are you reading?
I just finished "The Bone Man of Kokoda", very interesting read, it follows the life of a Japanese Imperial Soldier.
It's hard to tell the authenticity of some of the events but it's still a fascinating book. Now I'm reading "Korea, The Forgotten War".

Currently reading Mountain Biking Australia Aug, Sept, Oct edition. Got Mountain Biking UK next. And in the novel department, I'm reading the 2nd Bourne Trilogy again (the one not by Robert Ludlum). Currently up to the second one and it's just as brilliant as I remember.

Re: What are you reading?
Finished Stalingrad the other day by Anthony Beevor.
Am now reading "Pacific Commandos" one of the official histories of the Third Division NZ who were based in the pacific. Here is a link to the book if anyone is interested. I found myself a hard copy in a local second hand book shop - paid a bomb for it! http://www.nzetc.org/tm/scholarly/te...-body1-d1.html |

The Working Brain by Professor A. R. Luria.
After this I'm going to get into the second book (and indeed the rest of the books) in the Song of Ice and Fire series by George Martin.

Re: What are you reading?
I'm reading the Harry Potter series. I just wanted a break from the textbook like history books I've been reading.
I just finished the second book and I have to say I love them. This woman is a wonderful story teller and I am thoroughly enjoying these books. Highly recommend them.

Re: What are you reading?
Quote:
Is a top series, not long finished my self, just got to get the 5th now. If your after suggestions, I've been on a kick of alternate history for a couple of years. If interested, some suggestions would be anything by Harry Turtledove, namley his World War / Colonisation series (Aliens invade middle of WW2), Southern Victory series (American South wins the civil war, 2 Americas(have not finished all of it yet)), I've also read some of his other series's as well. Australian author John Birmingham's Axis of Time trilogy, Without Warning and After America are really good reads as well. Currently listening to Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars trilogy as an audio book. Not a bad way to do it, listening while on the train and driving. |
