Share houses: Your thoughts on them.
So basically, the short version of it is my room mate decided 4 months into a lease too pack up and move in with his missus. This has put in me in an awkward position. One. Keep the place and have it as my own and be poor as all hell.
Or two, Get a random person in too take over his part of the lease. I've been in a shared accommodation position before but am apprehensive about doing so again. So I come here asking one for advice on what too do next and two where should I start looking for a person too take over the lease. |

What part of Bris are you in? Shouldn't be too hard to find a keen uni student if you're in St Lucia, Indro or Toowong.
See if any of your friends want to move in maybe?

Oxley.
Yes it was, But he asked for a clause so that he could break the lease within 6 months. So it leaves me where I am now. |

Re: Share houses: Your thoughts on them.
Oh. Well he was well within his rights to do that then - I wouldn't have entered on a lease with such terms personally (but that doesn't really help you.)
Get a random in - generally people are fine and just want to toodle on with their own business. This has the advantage of company and you won't be poor as all hell. That said - cover yourself with a 2 week notice section in the sublease so you can boot them out on the street if they are pricks.

Just advertise and be sure to vet your possible house mate.
True share housing is the pits man. Sharing a place with one person is fine, sharing with a half a dozen or a dozen if horrible!

Re: Share houses: Your thoughts on them.
Get a individual in.
*I say that even though i gave up shared households 10 plus years back. Good way to "break the ice" for potential interviewees for the house is to ask them when they come for an inspection is to ask them to bring their favourite CD along whilst they inspect the house. That way you get too hear and see what sort of music they are into , hence might find common ground in music. Oxley is not a bad suburb and has some quite streets.. Good luck! |
