Teamspeaks is better, you can make it voice activated and it's much more clear.

The downside is that you end up using it too much and it gets loud. I don't mind loud too much as it can be really handy to talk to other squads.

You also need to identify yourself whilst using teamspeak.

Works the same, push to talk etc. I don't routinely use it unless needed in a scrim. Can get confusing between voices - eg an SL can get three VOIPs (in-squad + commander + TS)

Generally chews little bandwidth/CPU power as its compressed well. However due tot he compression I find it is hard to differentiate between voices to ID the speaker sometimes.

One of the traps when using TS is when you've got a mixed squad for pub play - others cannot hear you! SL silence over in-squad voip ('cause he's talking on TS) makes for a disorganised squad.

VOIP is inbuilt to the game so you can use it as well as TS.

G15 is a keyboard with an LCD on it.

I'm not sure how everybody else sets their TS up but I have a G7 Mouse.
The little scroller thingy in the middle not only scroll's up and down but also clicks side to side. I have my Push to talk keys set as In game voip 'scroll right' and TS 'scroll left. That way I dont have move any fingers or hands.

You can have the same key for both VOIP andTS but it gets a bit confusing for everyone else listening because they're only getting half the conversation.

Thanks for that.
I guess I'll add it in. Of course then I have the problem of another distraction, which will increase my tardness even more. (Although I'm not sure I can get any worse than what I am now)

Ive got an older logitech mouse m550? and set up a button on it for push to talk squad VOIP + have an obscure key on the keyboard for push to talk TS, just so I dont get them mixed up as much.

Bloody annoying/embarrasing when you give instructions or info on the wrong comms channels. :x

Teamspeak / TS is mostly a clan thing, over time u get used to what voice belongs to what person...in a clan war only SL's, commander
and vehicle/equipment operators would talk....squad comms would be
via Voip.

In a pub most clanners would still be on TS...cos its just better.

Jacking this thread...

Is there a good in game overlay that people use for TS3? Suggestions please.

Also while I'm here does the mumble overlay work with PR nowadays?
