Rip Evan Tanner
I only heard this like 2 days ago.. Surprisingly happened almost 4 weeks ago now.
I thought it would be somewhat on online news, not sure how I missed it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evan_Tanner http://www.evantanner.net/ His career was getting on the shaky end in the last few months/fights, but he still had good win/lose ratio. Anyone that doesnt know who he is, he was a long time ufc fighter. Anyone who doesnt know what ufc is, get out from under your rock and go to www.ufc.com (read it on his wiki) I find is suspicious that the story goes he apparently died of heat in the desert, and told friends he was out of fuel on mobile and out of water.. Yet the story said when the marines found him his bike had fuel and there was waster at his camp.. where his bike was.. so why did he walk else where to get water, and apparently say he was outa fuel.. gay way to go anyway.

Re: Rip Evan Tanner
He was probably in steroid withdrawal and went mental...

Re: Rip Evan Tanner
Its not a thread for bashing a guy that died.. I just said its weird the story conflicts with what happened.
He rode into the desert on his own, it was a personal camping / challenge/ activity. And steroids is in WWE not UFC.

Re: Rip Evan Tanner
Apparently heat exhaustion. Was in the desert, so woulda been bloody hot (48c says in the wiki below), but for an athlete he would know the limits of the body, Which is why im suprized he could die, I watched his last fight only a few weeks ago.. and ive seen a handfull of his fights over the last year or so while i been a big ufc fan.. Hard to imagine his dead, the guy I saw not long ago bangin it out in the octagon.. It just sounds as if he took a much higher risk then he needed to by leaving his bike and walking to the next water hole thingo.. At the same time, he probably wasnt worried since being a pro fighter, you shouldnt fear much when you go into the octagon with another fighter for 1on1 brutal fighting. Weird to be doing stuff like that on his own to... high chance of risk being alone on a bike in the desert. But like I said he was a pro fighter, I guess its all about confidence etc.. "Believe in the power of ONE" says his website. Now back to watching more ufc ![]() silva vs cote UFC90! was dissapointed it didnt go far due to a injurt they had to stop it.. it sucks caz it wasnt caused by the oponent either, just a bad knee twist / bend .. was good fight to.

Re: Rip Evan Tanner
Quote from wiki
Death In the second-to-last entry posted on his Spike-TV blog on August 16, Tanner wrote, "I'm hoping that very soon I'll be sitting out in the quiet of the desert beneath a deep blue midnight sky, listening to the calm desert breeze. The idea going into the desert came to me soon after I moved to Oceanside. It was motivated by my friend Sara's talk of treasure hunting and lost gold, and my own insatiable appetite for adventure and exploration. I began to imagine what might be found in the deep reaches of the untracked desert. It became an obsession of sorts.Tanner had recently purchased a dirt bike, and on September 3 he rode into the desert region north of Brawley, California to go camping.[8] According to Tanner's manager John Hayner, Tanner called that afternoon to say that his bike had run out of gas, and that he would accordingly walk back to his camp.[8]Temperatures that day reached 118 degrees Fahrenheit (48C), and friends became concerned and reported Tanner missing after he failed to contact them.[8] His body was discovered by a Marine helicopter on September 8. The Imperial County coroner determined Tanner's time of death to be sometime between late September 4 and early September 5, but the legal date of death was recorded as September 8. Tanner's body was found near Clapp Springs with empty water bottles. Tanner had reportedly intended to refill his bottles at the springs before heading back to the provisions at his campsite, but the springs were unexpectedly dry, and Tanner text messaged a friend informing him of this. However, Evan felt he could make it back to camp if he traveled during the later hours of the evening, refusing offers at that time to send help. Friends were told that if they had not heard from Evan by the next morning and could not reach him by 8am, they then needed to contact Search and Rescue. Rescuers found Evan at a spot where he stopped to rest. During that rest, he succumbed to the excessive heat, slipping over onto his side into the position that rescuers found him in. An empty pouch of water was nearby. According to the military article that was posted, Evan's motorcycle was at his camp, full of gas, and within his provisions were ample supplies of water.[3]. The Imperial County sheriff's office official cause of death was cited as heat exposure.[8] A "Celebration of Life" service was held in Amarillo, TX on September 27th at 2:00 p.m. at the Amarillo Civic Center. A less formal "Celebration of Life" gathering was held at a close friend's house for those that were a part of Evan's Oceanside life. It was attended by Evan's sister and those close to Evan, with sharing of stories and pictures of his amazing life. At dusk, a candlelight vigil was held to honor their friend and loved one. ---
